Third-party authorities with Brighter Super

✓ Verified August 2026

Does Brighter Super require its own form?

NO for information-only access — generic authority accepted with strict content rules. Adviser FAQ (verbatim, fetched Aug 2026): 'If you prefer to use your own third-party authority form, please include the client's name, date of birth, address and signature, as well as the servicing adviser's name, practice name and AFSL name. Omission of any of these details will result in the authority being rejected.' Fund's own forms: MS01 (info-only) or A04 (listed-adviser appointment ± limited transaction authority). Transaction authority REQUIRES the fund's A04 with member ID verification — no generic letter accepted for that.

Form details

Two-tier system, both PDFs read in full. (1) MS01 'Authority to Release Information', version 07/25: info-only, 'valid for 2 years from the date it is signed', covers all current/past/future accounts, member signature + date; adviser section captures Brighter Super Adviser ID, ASIC financial adviser number, AFS licence number, practice name, ABN, AFS Licensee name; option to authorise 'All staff from the above named company' or up to 4 named representatives; no ID certification required; TFN and bank details never released. (2) A04 'Appoint Or Change Your Adviser', version 07/26: appoints an enduring 'listed adviser' (continues until cancelled in writing — no 2-year expiry) with information access, Adviser Portal access and third-party software data feeds; optional Section 4 grants limited transaction authority (with a separate tick-box tier 'including the ability to initiate withdrawals or transfer benefits on my behalf'); requires BOTH adviser and member signatures; member must verify identity (Section 5: electronic DVS/CRA via licence or passport + Medicare, or certified ID); prerequisite: 'This form will only be accepted if the AFS Licensee has entered into an arrangement with the Trustee' (A02 licensee + A03 adviser registration first). Signatures: most forms accept digital signatures (image paste, DocuSign, Adobe Sign) per the forms page, but 'Brighter Super does not accept digital signatures for attorney/s' — POA signatories must sign in blue/black pen. Where and how to lodge

MS01/generic authority — preferred: secure file upload at brightersuper.com.au/contact-us; alternatives: email info@brightersuper.com.au (scanned copy) or post Brighter Super, GPO Box 264, Brisbane Qld 4001. A04 — email adviceoperations@brightersuper.com.au or post GPO Box 264 (per the 07/26 form itself). Registered advisers: secure document upload inside Adviser Online (https://adviseronline.brightersuper.com.au/document-upload) — the adviser FAQ nominates portal upload for signed authority + client ID. The fund labels the contact-us secure upload 'Preferred Method' on MS01; no fax. Adviser-specific queries: 1800 444 396, option 1 (dedicated adviser line).

Published turnaround

Published in 'Enquiries, concerns and complaints' info sheet (July 2022 — may be dated): verbal enquiries answered immediately or by close of business next day; 'We will answer your written enquiry within 2 days of receiving it.' No published turnaround specifically for TPA/authority processing or adviser requests — unverified.

Watch-outs

(1) Hard rejection rule on generic authorities: missing ANY of client name/DOB/address/signature or adviser name/practice name/AFSL name = rejected — SuperChase should validate these seven fields pre-lodgement. (2) Info-only TPAs expire 2 years from signing (listed-adviser A04 access is enduring — push clients to A04 where appropriate). (3) Successor fund transfers void authorities: at the Suncorp Super SFT (1 June 2023) the fund stated 'Existing authorities will cease, Adviser will need to arrange new authority to be signed' — expect the same at any future SFT. (4) A04 rejected unless the AFS Licensee already has a registration arrangement with the trustee — new practices must lodge A02+A03 first, adding a sequencing delay. (5) Limited transaction authority is auto-revoked whenever the member changes or removes their adviser. (6) Transaction authority requires member ID verification (DVS electronic or certified ID) — a common rejection/delay point. (7) POA signatures must be wet ink even though most forms take digital signatures. (8) Authorities lodged before 11 Aug 2025 don't show in Adviser Online — phone-only verification. (9) Two different intake emails (info@ for MS01, adviceoperations@ for A04) — misdirected forms risk delay. (10) No published TPA processing SLA. Adviser-forum complaints about Brighter Super turnarounds: none found in searchable communities — unverified.

If they go quiet

Email complaints@brightersuper.com.au; letter to Complaints Officer, Brighter Super, GPO Box 264, Brisbane Qld 4001; phone 1800 444 396; webchat at brightersuper.com.au; in person at Level 20, 333 Ann Street Brisbane. Published commitments: acknowledgement within 24 hours; response within 45 days (90 days for death-benefit distribution complaints; 30 days for ESI Financial Services advice complaints); written response always given on request. Escalation: AFCA (1800 931 678, info@afca.org.au, GPO Box 3 Melbourne VIC 3001); death-benefit complaints to AFCA within 28 days of decision notice. Full dispute resolution policy: https://www.brightersuper.com.au/-/media/public/files/call-centre/dispute-resolution-policy.pdf

Under s1017C of the Corporations Act, a trustee must make reasonable efforts to comply with an information request within one month. If Brighter Super exceeds its own published standard, a formal internal-dispute-resolution complaint starts a 45-calendar-day clock under ASIC Regulatory Guide 271 — with AFCA as the next stop.

SuperChase runs this whole chase for your practice — the right form flagged before you lodge, day counters against Brighter Super’s own standard, and citation-checked follow-up letters ready when they go quiet.
